PURPOSE OF TEACHING THIS UNIT IS TO ENABLE THE LEARNER TO;

·         Develop right innovative entrepreneurial practices that open new ventures, markets, products and technology to solve poverty issues in the world.

·         Comprehend and apply various conceptualizations of poverty, vulnerability and social exclusion, analyze multidimensional manifestations of poverty, and have an insight into the position of women and children as vulnerable groups.

·         Identify alternative strategies, policy interventions and innovative responses aimed at eliminating poverty on the basis of principles of gender justice and social and economic justice.

Course grades will be determined as follows;

  • Sit-in, quizzes, class presentation and assignments (30%) & End of semester exam (70%) totalling 100%

COURSE POLICY

Class attendance is absolutely essential as stipulated by SOBE class attendance guidelines. All missed classes will be noted. Habitual lateness and leaving class early, for whatever reason will be noted as evidence of low course commitment. Class members should make an effort to learn from each other and participate actively in class discussion.
