Kisii University recognizes the value of leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching and learning, in line with global trends. ICT allows content to be translated into different formats to suit diverse lecturer and learner needs. It also makes it possible to overcome constraints in teaching and learning such as distance, time, language barriers, hearing and visual impairments and others. Electronic learning enables lecturers to engage learners in a standard and consistent manner, ensuring that the University provides the same quality of training to all learners. Electronic Learning being largely a paperless mode of study helps the University, lecturers and learners to cut down on costs. The University saves on physical space, infrastructure, and human resources among others. With regard to community outreach, the University's Electronic Learning platform provides limitless opportunities to undertake research and extension programmes critical to the community. Community outreach for instance can be achieved through Mass Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
