PHYSICAL OPTICS

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:

To enhance the students’ understanding of the wave nature of light and to introduce some concepts of modern optics.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE:

At the end of the course students should be able to:

i.        Define the terminologies and principles of physical optics

ii.      Explain the wave nature of light and patterns produced by interference of waves

iii.     Explain the concept of resolving power and its application in optical instruments
